We had a lovely sunny morning for the foray and a group of 13 people. Because of the unusually hot and dry summer, there weren’t as many fungi around as usual. However, we managed to find a respectable number including the beautiful Magpie Inkcap, the Ivory Woodwax which has a faint smell of Mandarin oranges and the Cabbage Parachute which really does smell of cabbages. At the very end of the walk it was good to see the Golden Scalycap high up on the dead Beech tree where it has appeared for several years. A total of 33 different Fungi were recorded-full list available from walks@rspbguildford.org.uk
