Coach Trip to RSPB Wallasea Island @ Guildford Spectrum Car Park
May 31, 2026 at 8:00 am Show Details

Those of you who attended the talk at Shalford last October by Alan Johnson, RSPB area manager for the southeast, will remember how he described the huge project to create a new reserve on the coast of Essex with 3m tonnes of spoil from the construction of the Elizabeth line. After the talk he offered the group a visit to the new reserve with the staff there acting as our guides. He promised us a day to remember.

We have now arranged to make the visit on Sunday 31 May, a time when the reserve is expected to be full of breeding birds.

The only facilities at the site are toilets and so bringing a packed lunch and plenty of fluids, will be essential.

For more information about the reserve visit https://www.rspb.org.uk/days-out/reserves/wallasea-island

    Cost: £35 per person

Time: The Coach leaves Guildford Spectrum Car Park (GU1 1UP) at 8.00 am and depart the reserve at 4.00 pm

For more information and to book your place email Sue Losson (coachtrips@rspbguildford.org.uk)

Fundraising events

Each year our group raises large sums for the RSPB. These range from stalls at local events, jumble sales, plant sale and more.

Social events

We arrange several social events each year. This is a way for people to get to know each other better and are usually only open to members of our local group.

Holidays

Two holiday trips are organised each year.  Usually we have one longer one in the spring and a shorter one in the autumn.  Participation in holiday trips is restricted to our members.

Special events

We sometimes arrange bird ID sessions and other special events. See individual event for details.

External events

When possible we will include events at local RSPB reserves
